Karthik Calling Karthik is a psychology thriller movie of 2010. This movie is written and directed by Vijay Lalwani and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The main leads were played by Farhan Akhtar as Karthik and Deepika Padukone as Sonali. Karthik is a introvert who was stuck in his past. He has a job in a construction company where he is not treated well by his colleagues and especially by his boss. He has a very poor and struggling childhood. Karthik had a big brother Kumar who used to trouble him. When he said about his brother is troubling him they didn't believe him. Once they went play where there was a pond. Kumar dragged him to near to well and tried to push him into that well. While pushing Karthik into the pond, he accidentally fell inside the well and he died. He felt himself guilty for his brother's death.

Sonali Mukherjee (Deepika ) is a colleague of Karthik where they worked together. Sonali never noticed Karthik existence. But Karthik has loved her secretly and never told her before because he is not confident and she has a boyfriend in their office. Karthik was trapped in his average job where his boss continously insult him. His boss gave him a task that has to done with in that day. So he has to stay in the office at night too. He stayed all night and when he just came from office exhausted, he had a call from his boss that he hasn't finished the task now he had to come office at that right moment. He went to office with his sleepy eye and finished his job but his boss was so angry on him that he fired him. He had to get insulted in front of the whole office and he decided to commit suicide. In that night,when he was about to take all sleeping pills there was a phone call with the familiar voice and mentioned himself as Karthik. He convinced Karthik that he has the ability to change his life differently. These calls him him to guide him life. Suddenly he became so confident that his boss fired him before now approved him in a high position . He also gained the love of Sonali. Now he became different than before. He is more successful and confident.  That phone calls brings light in his dull life.

However, he tells about the phone calls to Sonali and psychiatrist ,despite of being warned by Stranger caller. He got too angry and warned that he can make his life then he can destroy his life too. As he said,he made a call which made Karthik loose his job and Sonali. Karthik had nothing with him.So he decided to go unknown place where he can live his life peacefully. He took this decision because he don't want to get mentally disturbed by him. He went to a small town,take shelter and have a small job of a receptionist in a small company. One day,his office had to go somewhere so he had to get in touch with Karthik and insisted him to have a telephone or a mobile phone. Therefore he had to buy a telephone, as usual the stranger caller calls him every 5:oo am Karthik knew that caller will call him.He was so afraid that he would call him. As far as his fear, caller called him a threatened that he will going to finish his life. As meanwhile,psychiatrist  contacted Sonali and told that Karthik was suffering from schizophrenia. Karthik has no brother,he made his brother in his imagination. And the Stranger caller was noone,it was Karthik himself. He recorded the voice message and set that call will be come at exact 5 am. He himself advised and threatened to finish his life. Sonali managed to get Karthik address and found him injured. He was admitted to the hospital and Karthik and Sonali live together happy.
